Venours’ agricultural vocational secondary school is located in Rouillé, 30 km southwards away from Poitiers, in the west of France. Rouillé is a rural town with 2711 inhabitants.
Our state agricultural school includes 350 students and offers short training courses in addition to our full and part time programmes (apprenticeship) at all levels.
As for Full-Time Education, students can prepare a Scientific A-Levels, a B-Tech specialized in life sciences and agronomy or a vocational diploma in farm management. Then, they can follow their studies with a two-year-course and prepare a Higher National Diploma (BTSA) specialized in farm management, plant production or agricultural supplies.
The lessons taught are both technical, with agronomy, animal husbandry, farm management, and general with maths, sciences, economics, history, geography and foreign languages (English, Spanish and German).
Our educational farm is composed of 96 ha (crops and grazing land), with dairy cows (500 000 l/year), pheasants, partridges and beehives.
On the school's site, there is also a contemporary museum which is totally independent. To entertain, people tend to go to Niort, or Poitiers, which are the nearest cities.
